I've never played a monk character. I'm not the kind of person who wants to heal people... I'm more of the person who wants to destroy or kill whatever happens to come two inches from my face.

Should I not bother ever making a Monk character?

Well you can.. farm with monks >.> And its mad easy to get into groups. Then again the only reason I made a monk was to run CoF >_>

It depends, I found that being the healer in many online games makes people like you, that warm fuzzy felling does kinda grow on you.
Even though I'm by default a sneaking backstabber or a pet master/chicken.

What a dumb question, and a dumb thread. There's nothing stopping you from making a character, and if you really don't like it, don't make it. It's that simple.

You sound like the kind of person who puts a lot of strain on monks, therefore I think you SHOULD make one just so you know first-hand how it makes us feel when you decide to Leeroy every mob.

I started my first monk a month ago or so and I wasnt sure what I was going to think about it at first. After trying it out though I decided that I really liked monking. Its actually a challenge sometimes to keep your team alive and theres alot of pressure for you to do your job correctly.

It is kind of frustrating however when you just get some warrior who thinks hes a god and just rushes everything. But when I get ppl who do that I tell them either stop and play smart or dont get healed. After a few deaths they usually follow orders pretty well.

shield of absorption makes that nub war a god.

make a pvp monk, use a not sucky skill bar of PURE PROTS, prot + gift of health.

dont just try some bad healing build. research the profession first, get an idea for how to preprot, see if you think thats challenging. personally i think it is the 2nd most challenging class to play (after a properly played mesmer). if youre not good at micromanagement forget about it. if you cant see the bigger battle going on forget it.

don't make a monk if you hate healing and supporting people, you won't like it. personaly i love either killing things with my sin, or keeping everyone else alive as a monk. 2 extream sides to the bar.. anyways.

I was like you before i made a monk but i made 1 any way and fell in love with healing make 1 of all pros, even if just to delete l8r never know what you like till you try it all

Personally I don't think there is another class that truly controls the outcome of a groups success. Not saying that other classes aren't vital to the success of a mission, but personally, my take on monking is that it isn't simply healing or proting others that's the turn on, it's about controling the fate of your party's success.

Agreed. If you'd rather be the one dealing damage, do just that.. and only that. I can't tell you what to play but Tyla's soo right. Go play monk in some basic PvP and see if it's something you're able to do.

or you could play paragon.. they're more like offensive monks.
